The EventCamp team, consisting of Christina Coster, Jessica Levin, Jeff Hurt, Mike McAllen, and Mike McCurry have created guidelines, to assist friends and colleagues, across the world, in organizing their own local, regional and International EventCamp Conferences.
For more information on this process please visit the ‘Organize Your Own‘ page on the EventCamp Website.
EventCamp is a great event, bringing together like-minded professionals, to share best practices, and learn new strategies, for leveraging social media and technology to create enhanced event experiences.
The first EventCamp Conference was held on February 6, 2010, at the Roger Smith Hotel, in New York City.

How can you create a better meeting experience?
That’s one of the questions Christopher Uschan of Omnipress has tried to answer with the launch of Conference 2.0, a new feature-rich social media solution that combines online social technologies, session materials, and marketing engagement methodologies to maximize networking and learning for attendees, speakers and sponsors.
Conference 2.0 is currently powering the community behind EventCamp NYC, which we covered in yesterday’s post. And it seems to be a formidable solution, allowing event organizers to create a community while incorporating information and session content.
The service allows organizers to build community directories and schedules, and automatically integrates data from LinkedIn, Twitter and other social networking services, while encouraging “face friendly” activities as matchmaking, one-on-one messaging and mobile connectivity (iPhone and Blackberry).
It’s nice to see an out-of-the-box solution like this and we’re sure it will be especially helpful to small events who would otherwise have to resort to an expensive custom-designed solution.

EventCamp 2010, a BarCamp-style gathering for event professionals to share best practices and learn new strategies to create a successful event, will be held on February 6, 2010 from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. at the Roger Smith Hotel in New York City. The “unconference” is being hosted as part of Social Media Week, five days of events involving the best and brightest in the New York tech community with the goal of educating and encouraging social media practices across all sectors.
EventCamp is the first industry gathering of its kind, offering a low-cost alternative to the pricey annual conference and allowing attendees the option to generate their own content, encouraging participation and allowing for a more interactive environment. Approximately half the session topics will be pre-determined, and aim to assist planners in utilizing social media and technology in event planning, execution, business development and networking.
Panel discussions from the industry’s most forward thinking planners and suppliers, along with presentations by leaders in the social media world will include:
· Creating Hybrid Events
· Using Social Media On-Site
· ROI on Social Media
· Social Hospitality
· Online Event Communities
EventCamp costs $75 for the day and attendees can register with EventBrite. Attendees are encourage you to join the EventCamp community and engage with fellow campers.
